She graduated with a BA in Communications in 2013; after graduating, she moved to the UK to study documentary filmmaking at the University of London, receiving her MA in December of 2014. Upon completion of her master’s, Lani interned with NPR in 2015, where she contributed to their flagship music program, Tiny Desk Concerts and Jazz Night in America.

Between 2016 and 2020, she filmed hundreds of depositions and gained meaningful experience creating films for nonprofits. Lani then worked as a Creative Producer for Bonsai Mirai, where she got to travel to remote locations to film ancient trees, before joining Fat Pencil Studio in May 2026.
Outside of work, Lani enjoys doing puzzles (both jigsaw and sudoku), hiking, hanging out with her dog (Eggy), and bouldering, which she does every Wednesday. She also enjoys listening to Jazz and watching documentaries and Survivor. Lani’s favorite food is pizza and her favorite restaurants in Portland are Paladin Pie, Scotty’s Pizza, and Yaowarat.
